Welcome to Cambodia. Upon arrival in Siem Reap, you will be greeted by our immigration official representative as you exit the plane and quickly processed via VIP fast track visa service. 

After collecting your luggage, you will be escorted outside the airport building to meet your private guide and driver, then transferred to your hotel for check-in. Please note that local guides are not permitted inside the airport.

This morning at 5:00am you will depart your hotel for Angkor Wat, the largest and most breathtaking monument at Angkor.

Built as the funeral temple for Suryavarman II who ruled from 1112 to 1152, Angkor never fails to reward the first time or repeat visitor with its grand scale, surreal bas reliefs and unbelievable attention to detail. 

We enter the temple complex from the quiet east side of Angkor Wat to avoid the crowds and will spend the morning exploring one of man’s most magnificent creations before returning to the hotel for late breakfast.

Note: Visiting temples or other religious sites in Cambodia, visitors are advised to follow a dress code consisting of long trousers or skirt which covers the knees as well as covered shoulders. Skirts, short shorts, tank tops and revealing clothing are culturally insensitive and not allowed.

Embark on your journey at Angkor Thom, the grand royal city under Jayavarman VII. Explore city walls, visit Banteay Thom with its remarkable Apsara sculptures, and continue to Chan Ta Oun Temple. 

Delve into the jungle to discover Prasat Cha’s dragon’s teeth ruins on the Baray’s banks. Head to Kok Po, an ancient temple from the Chenla period.

Conclude Spean Memay, the Bridge of the Mirrors, leading to the West Baray, the world’s largest man-made reservoir a millennium ago, built by 20,000 laborers.

Phnom Kulen is the birthplace of the Khmer Empire. The mountain range is considered a holy place for Cambodians because of its religious significance for Hindus and Buddhists. 

After a one and a half hour drive, you will reach the starting point of the 13 km trek.

Start hiking through an open air track leading to a lush rainforest, bat cave and ancient relics to explore. Along the way you will reach giant stone elephants, guardian of the mountain. 

Stop half-way to enjoy a breathtaking view of the Siem Reap Province and have lunch near an ancient abandoned temple.

After lunch you follow the local ranger through cashew plantations. If you are lucky, you can hear a thousand birdsongs and taste local wild fruits.

Depending on the time you end up trekking, you can enjoy a beautiful waterfall swim to freshen up before heading back to your hotel.

This evening, enjoy the dinner with Apsara Dance Show at Kanel Restaurant

This morning, drive around 1 hour and start your tour with visit to Kbal Spean which lies 50 kilometers northeast of Siem Reap.

The original River of Thousand Lingams, Kbal Spean is an intricately carved riverbed deep in the foothills of the Cambodian jungle. 

Lingams are phallic representations sacred to Brahmanism as symbols of fertility, and hundreds of them are carved into the rock here, as are several carvings of gods and animals above the small waterfall.

Lunch will be served at local restaurant.

Afternoon return to Banteay Srei, loosely translated as “Citadel of Women.”

It houses some of the finest and best- preserved examples of classical Khmer bas-relief. The temple’s relatively small size, pink sandstone construction and ornate design give it a fairyland ambiance.

Next to Preah Dak and finish at Takeo temple and Banteay Samre. Back to hotel and enjoy your evening on own leisure.

Enjoy your last morning in Siem Reap before checking out of your hotel.

Transfer Sihanouk Ville – Trapeang Rung pier, Cardamom Tented Camp (Driver only) 

Upon arrival, meet your private driver and drive to Trapeang Rung (approx. 4 hours).

Fresh up at the lodge’s lounge in Trapeang Rung before embarking for the hour’s trip over the Preak Tachan River to Cardamom Tented Camp.

Settle into your comfortable safari-style tent.

This afternoon go on an exploratory hike in the jungle around the camp. The diversity of the fauna will amaze you! Get information on the conservation and protection work of Wildlife Alliance.

Clothing

Our camp is located in low-lying rain forest, and the hiking trails frequently cross through rivers and creeks and muddy patches.

Count on part of your clothing items to get dirty and wet.

We suggest to take:

• Sunhat and / or a bandana
• Light long trousers (easy drying)
• Shorts (to wear at the camp)
• Swimming trunks
• Sandals or flip-flops (to wear in the camp)
• Closed hiking shoes with good profile

Electricity and Internet

Our camp is solar-powered, which means that we are not able to support heavy power-draining equipment such as flatirons or hairdryers. You will be able to charge cameras batteries, phones, etc. 

We have limited access to the Internet, but cannot guarantee connectivity at all times.

Luggage

Getting to our camp involves a boat journey. We have limited luggage capacity on the boat and in the tents, but we offer the opportunity to leave large luggage items at our Trapeang Rung Jetty. Duffel bags or airplane cabin-size luggage is ideal for the stay.

Laundry

We do not offer laundry services. Should you want to wash clothing, take your own biodegradable detergent.

After early breakfast, Wildlife Alliance Rangers will meet you and together with an English-speaking guide embark on patrol over a network of abandoned poaching and logging trails through the dense forest.

Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife.

The half-day hike will stop by the Ranger Station, where confiscated snares, traps and improvised hunting rifles are on display. Local khmer lunch will be served. 

After lunch at your own relaxation or swim at the River.

Late afternoon, kayak along Prek Tachan to camp tented if you have a chance you will see some monkeys or some birds during the kayaking. Enjoy your own leisure!

After breakfast we embark on a Kayak and trek to an even more remote part of the forest, before returning to the camp for lunch.

Also, access to more remote parts of the river system can be affected by low tides. 

Afternoon is at your leisure, you can zip-line, explore trails close to the camp, swim in our beautiful river, or take a kayak along shady tributaries of the river in search of wildlife, such as Pileated Gibbons and Smooth-Coated Otters.

At around 10:00, after boarding the boat back to Trapeang Rung peir, your driver will be waiting for you for transfer to Phnom Penh approximately a 5 hours drive.

Phnom Penh is not just another metropolis – it’s the old Asia you dream of – beautiful historical buildings, aromatic street food around every corner, endless markets and monks passing you by on the streets.

This fascinating city with a dark history of war and turmoil is now filled with vibrancy, warmth and rapid development.

You will meet your guide and driver in the morning to visit Tuol Sleng Prison to glimpse the devastating horrors that prevailed during Cambodia’s ultra-radical Marxist movement. This excursion may prove distressing for some; it is however an important piece of Cambodia’s recent past.

Then, take an excursion to Choeng Ek, also known as the “killing fields,”- located just outside the city.

This afternoon you will visit Wat Phnom, where a 14th century stupa and small pagoda stands. It is the tallest religious structure in the city and the oldest building in Phnom Penh.

Then continue to the Royal Palace, built in 1866 under King Norodom for a glimpse of Khmer architecture. 

A visit to the Royal Palace also includes a visit to the Silver Pagoda – named after its floor, which is covered with over 5000 silver tiles. Although some 60% of the pagoda’s contents were destroyed under Pol Pot’s regime, what remains is spectacular. This is one of the best places in all of Cambodia where objects embodying the brilliance of the Khmer civilization can still be viewed. 

After the palace, continue to visit the National Museum with its huge collection of Khmer sculpture and artifacts recovered from the ancient Angkor Empire. Afterwards return to your hotel to spend the evening, free at your leisure.

Explore some of Cambodia’s Mekong Island’s just a bike ride away from the capital and learn how to weave silk the Khmer way on Koh Dach.

We suggest you bring your camera, sunglasses, sunscreen and some comfortable clothing. 

Enjoy a morning bicycle ride on quiet back roads of the Silk Islands, near Phnom Penh, visiting local communities and farmland to witness village life in the Cambodian countryside.

Who would have thought, that only 5km from the heart of Cambodia’s capital city, there is an island oasis where one can take a bike ride at a gentle pace and discover true rural Cambodia. 

These islands, created by the flows of the Mekong River, are isolated by the lack of bridges, but ferry connections provide easy access for villagers who use the fertile soil here to grow fruit and vegetables and then weave silk and cotton in between farming cycles. 

The absence of most four wheeled traffic makes for a peaceful ride where you can almost forget that the hustle of a city is just nearby. The ride is flat and easily achievable for anyone who can ride a bike and we take care to ensure a high degree of safety.
